Using FAM to get pregnant
Charting with this method is the first tool I recommend to anyone trying to get pregnant. FAM can both help you achieve and maintain pregnancy. By charting your cycle, you will be able to tell if you are ovulating
regularly, and you will be able to pinpoint your most fertile days, allowing you to time intercourse optimally; no more guess work! If you do get pregnant, your chart will tell you. You will know your conception date, allowing you to have an accurate due date. This can potentially help you avoid unnecessary tests or procedures, such as inductions.
FAM can also reveal certain problems that could otherwise go undetected and could be preventing you from getting pregnant, such as a short luteal phase (post-ovulatory phase), insufficient fertile cervical fluid, and polycistic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). If you have not conceived within 1 year of beginning to try to get pregnant, most OB GYNs will assume that there is an infertility issue and will prescribe you drugs that can have far-reaching side-effects. FAM can help you paint an accurate and surprisingly detailed picture of your gynecological health, which can help you determine whether or not you want to pursue taking drugs and/or going for further treatments. Your charts will tell you if you have an early loss that otherwise could have appeared to be a "late periode". Having repeat losses is a different story than not being able to conceive and this can sometimes go unnoticed by your doctor.
Fertility and conception are deeply personal and beautiful aspects of our lives. We should all feel confident enough about our ability to rely on ourselves and our knowledge to not need to put our blind trust into other people's hands. FAM gives you all the tools needed for you and your partner to make informed decisions about how and when to try to get pregnant.
